The Worst is Over?

(Please don't mind my pants, which happen to look like a skirt,
or my ugly face. I am not sure what is going on in this picture)
Okay, so maybe that isn't a good title for this post. I guess more appropriate would be: "The first is over." While student teaching I was able to be a part of a couple concerts at the junior high level, but I basically showed up and conducted some pieces and went home. Last night was my first junior high orchestra concert as a real teacher. There was no mentor teacher to do all of the work and me only help with a few piddly things. (Is that a word?) Anyway, everything pretty much went well. The kids performed well and there were no major disasters during songs, which is basically my worst fear. I obviously, though, need more experience talking to the audience. I was so nervous and was very awkward trying to wing-it. I guess I'll do better next time. My mom came to support me, which is always appreciated--she is so good at doing that. We went to McDonald's after and she bought me an ice cream cone. So here I am at McDonald's after this very momentous occasion.

Congrats on your first "solo" concert! Mom said that both you and the principal received numerous compliments from parents expressing how well they felt the concert had gone and how glad they were that you are the teacher there, so that's gotta make it an even more joyous experience, right?? Don't worry, as someone who has mastered the art of cheesy banter, I can testify that the talking in between songs will come with practice. :)

How exciting Megan! That is awesome. Congratulations...I now have an idea of how much work that must have taken you. Let's get together and take a break from school stuff soon.
