So the camera is homosexual (yep....that definitely came from the junior high kids I spend so much time with) and wont upload pictures onto my computer so.....here's what has been going on without pictures. WARNING: Lots of details to follow
So December 23 morning I got a call from Jeber with a very shaky voice asking me if I would meet him at the hospital. Not knowing what was going on, I drove to the hospital and found him in a wheel chair in the E.R. So apparently, a little mishap at work had ended with a trunk landing on Jeber's left foot. After x-rays and a long E.R. visit, we went home with his foot in a hard splint and crutches. After a couple of days using crutches to go up and down the stairs in our house, he was feeling better enough that he could start getting around without the crutches.
We had a nice Christmas. There was a lot of good food and Jeber got me a couple of very nice things that I loved! I tried my best but seem to have a hard time in the gift-choosing department. Anyway, our second wedding anniversary was a couple of days later on the 28th. That night we ate at Hard Rock Cafe (it was my first time ever and I am not sure I understand the hoorah of them all around the world. I think I am okay with not seeing Madonna's bra as I am eating dinner) and then walked across the street to the Suns vs. Lakers game. That was only our second Suns game but I think Jeber enjoyed watching the Lakers.
The next day Jeber and I left to go to Mormon Lake. It was our first time driving and staying in the snow and it was definitely an adventure. We arrived later on the 29th, found our cabin, tried to get accustomed to the snow, and just relaxed. When we awoke in the morning, we decided to go into Flagstaff to pick up a few supplies. The only problem was that our 2wd truck didn't want to drive in the snow. After being bailed out of the ice spots we had gotten stuck in, we carefully drove into Flagstaff. It was snowing a lot. Like Jeber couldn't see many feet in front of us. It was completely white for as far as we could see. I am so glad that Jeber is a competent driver. We fooled around in Flagstaff, spent some time in the mall, and then went back to Mormon Lake. We ate dinner at the Mormon Lake Lodge and it was tasty and an interesting environment in the little restaurant that is combined with the western saloon. We went back to our cabin and watched movies. We couldn't do much that day because it was snowing that much.
The next morning we decided to try Snowmobiling. We payed for an hour guided tour. The hour tour involved us being put into a group with two sisters, who never stopped talking, and their kids, Jeber having to rescue a snowmobile that one of the sisters ran into a tree, Jeber having to start the other sisters snowmobile after she stalled it when she stopped to see if her sister was okay after running into a tree, the sisters driving very slowly (well that makes sense, one of them ran into a tree within the first 5 minutes of the ride so they needed to be cautious)......The ride was still fun and we had the opportunity to ride around in a wide open space and figure out how to work the machines a little more. Needless to say that the tour guide felt sorry that we had to deal with the ridiculousness of the sisters and offered us a free two-hour ride. I was very cold after that hour ride since I was only wearing jeans and normal socks and didn't have a truly winter coat. The two-hour ride was going to be leaving like as soon as we got back from the first ride. I was going to send Jeber on his own while I recovered from the cold, but I finally decided that I might never get to do it again so I better do it now, especially since it was free. ANYWAY, we went onthe ride and it was great. We went a lot farther through trees and cool trails. We saw vehicles that had been abandoned in the snow, road around in this huge open snowy field, and finally rode up on this high mountain area. This was the fun part. Up on this mountain were some jumps and cool turns, like a bmx track or something. We were having fun riding around, sometimes taking turns on the snowmobiles by ourselves instead of riding double like we had been doing all along. Jeber took one of the jumps by himself and got some good air and everyone was impressed. Well he went for a second run and this time it didn't go so well. The guide had warned us that this specific jump could twist you really easily so to be careful. Sure enough, Jeber hit the jump in just the wrong way, lost his footing on the icy foot rest thing, flew off of the snowmobile mid-air, went flying and finally landed on who knows what part of his body before he rolled all while the snowmobile is landing and taking off on its own. Jeber immediately jumps up and runs after the snowmobile as we all try to figure out what just happened and if it's possible for him to be okay. He kind of walked it off and seemed fine. We finished our ride with about 30 minutes left to go to get back to the lodge. Overall we had a lot of fun.
When we got back to Mormon Lake, Jeber walked up the hill to our cabin, because of course we weren't going to get our truck stuck up there again. As we got warm in the cabin and relaxed after our three hour ride, Jeber's right foot began to hurt. And then it got a little worse, and a little worse. I was freaking out because my legs were bright red from cold and I couldn't feel some of my toes. And Jeber kept getting worse and worse. This was New Year's Eve and since our first one together had been on our honeymoon, and the second one was probably spent sleeping, I had been looking forward to the party they would be having at the lodge that night. It got to be around 6 or so and Jeber and I debated whether we should get him to the hospital. It was getting very dark and I had never driven in snow before. We waited and Jeber kept getting worse. It got to the point that Jeber would look at his ankle and he would cry out in pain. It Was Bad! So at 9PM I decided to go to sleep so that I could wake-up first thing in the morning and drive him into Flagstaff. I slept the best I could while hearing the cries of pain and moaning that was coming from Jeber. He of course did not sleep at all as he was in too much pain and couldn't even move to get to the restroom (that presented interesting challenges for us). I woke up first thing in the morning, got myself ready, packed up all of our things, and then marched down the hill to get our truck to pick up Jeber. Well of course, our truck was stuck. It was New Year's so everyone was sleeping in. I waited till someone from the lodge got there to tow me out of my parking spot. The direction he pulled me out had me going the wrong direction to drive up the hill to get Jeber. As I attempted to turn the truck around, sure enough I got stuck AGAIN. The little French man pulled me out AGAIN and told me there was no way he was letting me go up the hill just to get stuck again in our light-weight truck. I explained to him that Jeber could not move....like at all....so there was no way he would be walking down the hill in the snow to the truck. So then I waited around while all of the staff of the Mormon Lake Lodge tried to figure out how they would help me get him down. The French man was finally volunteered to take his vehicle up and bring Jeber down the hill to our truck. Meanwhile, I carried all of our luggage and belongings down the hill, in a couple of trips, to load everything in the truck. Okay, so we finally got Jeber transported out of the cabin and everything loaded into the truck and now we were on our way. Jeber is stretched out in the back seat and I am driving in the snow for the first time and am very nervous. I am pretty confident that I will stay awake while driving.
So we get to Flagstaff, find the hospital, thanks to our GPS, and wait. After x-rays and a long E.R. visit, we find out that Jeber has torn some ligaments in his right ankle and we leave with an air-soft splint and ANOTHER set of crutches. His left foot still doesn't feel up to par so now that he's putting all his weight on it, it begins to feel a little sore. Anyway, so I drove from Flagstaff back to Mesa with Jeber behind me trying to catch up on sleep he had not gotten the night before and trying to keep his foot comfortable. We arrived home without any incidence and Jeber stayed in bed for the next few weeks resting and relaxing his body, trying to get better.
So that's how we started our year. Yet another December visit to the hospital. More adventures. More injuries for Jeber. More hospital bills. But an exciting and action-packed start to 2010.

Glad to see you update!!! Just think there are 10 more months before December comes around again. Maybe next time you can be in the hospital with more favorable circumstances? ;)
