Baby boy--our pride and joy

Our baby boy is almost 6weeks now. Being a mommy is wonderful! This little guy amazes me. Having a baby definitely changes things. It makes some things more complicated and involved--like just going to the grocery store--but also brings so much joy and amazement. Jeber and I are totally smitten, completely in love, extremely grateful, in awe, sometimes VERY emotional, and in somewhat disbelief that he is ours to love and cherish and worry about FOREVER! When I was in high school sitting in my AP Biology class, I was constantly amazed at how there were so many details and aspects that have to work together to make life happen. I always wondered why for some, studying science made them doubt and lose faith when it had the opposite affect in my life. I am again amazed at how all of these intricate details work together to create this beautiful little boy. Heavenly Father is definitely in charge and I am very grateful for that.

First ever full-blown bath

First kind-of-sort-of bath at home. He wasn't very happy because he thought mommy was taking too long

First Halloween

• Weight stats: oct 14--6lbs 7oz oct 18--6lbs 3oz oct 27--6lbs 8oz nov 3--6lbs 13oz nov 10--7lbs 3oz
• his hair seems to be getting lighter
• his eyes are already lighter than daddy's and seem to be bluish
• usually not too interested in the pacifier
• eats about every 2 hours
• went from sleeping only with mommy to sleeping around 4hours at a time at night in his own bed and now within the last week or so is back to sleeping only if mommy holds him (I secretly love it but am desperately afraid it will continue)
• I L.O.V.E. when he is eating and he rests his arm on my chest as if he is protecting his mommy
• he is a great listener when mommy reads him books or when daddy talks to him in Spanish
• his umbilical cord stump (those things are so nasty looking) fell off after only 6 days and I kind of freaked out a little bit--I am totally a worrisome, over-protective first-time mom
• during tummy time he is now lifting his head and turning it from side to side. He used to only lift his legs
• is getting a little double chin and his cachetes (cheeks) are getting bigger
• his legs are getting a little bit of chunk (actually more like muscle) on them--at least compared to the saggy-baggy-nothing-but-bones they were before
• he likes to kick and to try to stand
• he is holding up his head really well
• his cousin Brooke loves to give him kisses, know what he is saying when he makes noises, touch him, and sing him the rock-a-bye baby song when he is sad
• in the last few days he has really started smiling and sometimes laughing more and more. daddy gets the most smiles from him
• when he is in the car he is usually good. if he happens to be sad, he will cry when the car stops and stop crying when the car starts moving again
• on Nov 10 I was changing his poopy diaper without my top on because I had just been feeding him when he decided he wasn't done and poop SHOT out of him. It covered my chest and got all over my pants, the rug, and the couch
• he isn't all that fond of baths but LOVES getting his head washed and rubbed under the warm water
• he likes sitting in his bouncy chair, especially in the bathroom when mommy is taking a shower
• he likes to swing in his swing and watch the mobile go round and round
• he just started wearing size 1 diapers and wearing 0-3 month clothing the last three days. 0-3 month pants are currently way baggy on his tummy
• his socks are too short and too loose for his long feet and skinny legs
• he is SOOOO handsome and beautiful
• he makes very funny faces
• he toots really loud
• his hair does pretty much whatever it wants, which right now means sticking up all over the place in the back
• has only been without his mommy twice--for about 20 minutes when I went to vote and for about 40 minutes when Jeber and I went to find a blessing outfit for him
• he is my favorite
