April

April

April was a busy month.  We started the month by taking their very first bath together in the bathtub.  Little man thought it was great to have sister in the tub with him and sister thought she was pretty big.  Then my new sis-in-law chopped off my hair for me.  I had been wanting to do a pixie cut for years and finally decided it was time to just go for it.

The second week of April we took dinner over to my grandparents and ate with them.  The kids pretty much slept the whole time except that princess woke up to say hi the last few minutes we were there.  We heard over and over how good it was and how it was so nice of us to eat with them.  The next day I had some sort of stomach bug that entailed me not keeping anything down and spending a lot of time in the bathroom.  It is not fun being sick when you have kids to take care of.  Luckily, grandpa came and got little man to play at his house.  Handsome was very excited to get to ride in grandpa's car.  At the end of the week we had our Easter Pageant wrap-up party and the next night the kids and I went to my parents ward party.

On the 16th I was signed up to take dinner to my grandparents again.  I talked to mom in the morning and she said grandma wasn't feeling well and I probably shouldn't plan on bringing dinner as she didn't want us to get whatever grandma had.  Maybe the flu?  Within hours we learned that grandma had passed away and it seemed surreal.  She had survived so many medical issues that this just came upon us pretty fast.  Grandpa said we should come so he could see handsome so we did end up taking "dinner" over to grandpa's that day to share with the people who were gathering there.  Thursday night all of the grandkids got together to practice a song for the funeral and then share memories of grandma.  It was little man's first time ever staying with a non-family babysitter (we asked a cute girl from the Easter Pageant). He of course did awesome!  Had no problem walking right into their house and saying goodbye to us.  Princess had to stay with me and miss out on the fun.  The next day Princess got to go with me to meet the girls at the funeral home to dress grandma.  I initially didn't want to go but was glad for the experience that I got to share with sisters, mom, cousins, and aunts. Then Saturday was the funeral.  After the funeral and luncheon, we loaded in our cars to drive to Gila Valley.  After a short little service at the cemetery, we checked into our hotel and then met up with everyone at the Mexican restaurant.  Grandma, before passing, had arranged for everyone who went to the graveside to go out to eat together at the restaurant.  It was insane!  The next day our little family walked around the Gila temple just a little bit and then started on our way home.

The fourth week of April started with a trip to the doctor to find out that little man had an ear infection (our 3rd or 4th visit to the doctor this year).  The next day the kids and I got to go to a trial music class to see if it was something I wanted to sign handsome up for.  That same day, Princess proved she could crawl on hands and knees--the normal way.   Also sometime during this week, she started pulling herself up to standing.  Later that week we got to meet up with friends at the park for a play date.

The fifth week we decided to start going to the Spanish ward in our stake.  Then a doctor visit for me to get over a cough.  Princess decided to finish the month off with a bang by sleeping in her crib ALL NIGHT for the very first time.  And that is pretty much what happened.

Funny things handsome has been saying/doing:
Man bat (Batman)
Ummmmmm.....let me seeeeee
Margle (marble)
Blankent (blanket)
He doesn't sing much but he tried----"Ee ee oh ah" (E I E I OH [Old McDonald])

We invited cousin K over to play and princess had fun relaxing outside while the big kids colored with chalk
