April

April

The month starts with the last week of Easter Pageant.  I seriously can't believe how Jeber has survived waking up so early in the morning, working long hours in the sun doing physical labor, heading straight to mom and dad's house for a quick hello to baby and I, quick shower, out the door to Easter Pageant, long drive home after performances, baby waiting to play with him when he gets home, and finally asleep well after when he should be.  Little one has definitely been missing his daddy and refuses to sleep until his dad has come home and played with him for a little while.  It got a little rough!  A couple of nights I finally put him in the crib to just cry himself to sleep only to have him throw up from crying so much.  So after two nights of changing dirty sheets and pajamas when we all should have been sleeping, I gave up on that plan.  So then the experimenting began.  I tried to lay with him in the extra bed--nope.  I tried to walk him in the stroller--maybe worked one night.  One night I put him in the crib to cry again and he climbed out and really scared himself (and me).  So then the roughest of all nights---nothing was working and I obviosuly can't just leave him in his room to calm himelf down (he will either throw up or kill himself climbing out of his crib.)  So I just held him and rocked him all while he kicked and screamed.  When I had had enough of getting abused in his efforts to escape me, I let him down but didn't leave the rocking chair.  He had nowhere to go because the whole house was dark, daddy was sleeping (or at least trying to), and he wanted me to take him out of his room.  I didn't budge from that chair, even as he hit me, threw things at me, trashed his room, dumped over his hamper, screamed, pulled on me, etc.  I don't know how long this lasted but it felt like an hour of him throwing a fit.  He finally gave up and came to me so that I could rock him.  It didn't take long for him to fall asleep--he had to have been exhausted---and that was pretty much the last night of his refusing to go to sleep.  He finally went back to his normal sleep patterns and started getting much more rest.

The day before Easter, handsome got to hunt for eggs at the Layton Easter egg hunt.  Truth be told, he was more interested in the chickens and finding balls to throw than in collecting the eggs but it was fun for him nonetheless.

Easter Sunday, Jeber and handsome wore matching bowties that I made for them.  I am so mad I didn't get a picture of them together in their matching outfits, but Jeber wouldn't put his back on for a picture after he had changed out of his church clothes.

I played a violin solo of "He Is Risen", a Margo arrangement, for the special musical number on Easter and was pleased that it came together at the last minute.  I'm glad my musical numbers usually turn out decently even though they usually aren't finalized until the day or two before.

I wish I would have written down sooner our other Easter festivities because now I have forgotten some of the gems that occurred.  Aunt Margo had prepared an activity to help the kids remember what Easter is about.  She had the 12 plastic Easter eggs, each one with something in it about the resurrection and a scripture to go along with it.  After the kids would open an egg, see the item, and read the scripture, Margo would ask them a question to check their understanding.  Anyway, out of the mouth of babes.  One egg had a cinnamon stick to represent the spices and herbs that were used to prepare Christ's body.  After talking about it and reading the scripture, Aunt Margo asks B what the cinnamon stick was for: in case Jesus wanted a snack.  Oh man, there were some good answers I wish I could remember now.

Jeber bought me this bike trailer and handsome loves going for rides in it!  I have discovered that our neighborhood streets are definitely inclined (: and my legs have been feeling the burn.

Just because he's cute!  Love these shoes on him

And baby is old enough to start going to nursery!  I was worried about how he would do and sure enough, he cried and cried when I dropped him off.  Apparently he didn't cry the whole time, but it was a tramautic experience for him.

He, for some reason, likes to put his hand down my shirt and rest it on my chest.  It's a comfort thing.  Apparently when I'm not around, he has to make it work on himself.

So baby has already figured it out that as soon as Sacrament meeting is over and I take him away from daddy, it means that I am taking him to his class and he starts saying, "no, no, daddy."  Someday he will like it.

Daddy got him ready for bed on this night.  Doesn't he look handsome in his Guatemalan clothes?  I still don't understand how he puts those pants on so neatly--there is no button or elastic or anything--just a tie that you tie around the pants at the waist.

Baby boy throws a bouncy ball in the bathroom and it goes down the tub drain and it takes about a day for the water to drain out of the tub.  Looks like he won't be taking any more baths in the near future.

Jeber bought baby boy a pool to be able to play in the backyard.  Baby didn't know what to do.  He just sat there and if his toy floated away he would want us to give it to him.  He wasn't brave enough to move around much but still loved being able to splash and play in the water.
